The Mind and Body Connection MCycle
We all know that exercise is good for your body and health, but did you also know that it’s good for your mind too? There is more to fitness than just a toned body, and it’s time to realize that physical fitness is not necessarily separate from mental fitness. To really be healthy, you need a fit body and a fit mind.

Think of it this way. Your mind is connected to the rest of your body. It let’s you know when you’re in pain, when you’re happy, when you’re hungry etc. If you dread the thought of working out, forcing yourself to go to a class isn’t going to make you like exercising any more. To get the most of your workout, you need control your thoughts about the way you approach exercise. We all feel great when we leave a workout and are happy we did it, but what separates the people who get themselves to the gym every day from those who maybe make it once a week? The mind and their control over it does.

Stop thinking of your workout as a time consuming chore and start thinking of it as a step towards the body you’ve always wanted. You have complete control over your thoughts so why are you leaning towards the negative? The people who excel when it comes to fitness are the people who are able to put their mental will power over their fatigue, and the people who are able to put their goals ahead of their current feelings.

We’ve all been in the situation where our alarm goes off and we wake up thinking that the last thing our body could possibly handle is a workout. Guess what… it can. Your body isn’t the one fighting exercise, your mind is. Our bodies are made to move, and when we move, endorphins are released that make us happy. Exercise provides an escape from all the clutter that fills our heads and consequently can help relieve stress.

The connection between the body and mind is real, and it’s time you applied the connection to fitness. The only thing stopping you from reaching your goals is yourself. Stop thinking “you can’t” and realize that “you can.” Being healthy isn’t just about having a great body. Get your mind in shape, and the body will follow.
